Launch day checklist

Board team · Oct 7, 2026

GTA VI is due on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar hasn't announced a PC version yet. Here's what to sort out before launch day.

The week before

Check the store listing for the final download size and clear room. Expect it to be big
Turn on automatic downloads so a preload or day-one patch can install without you
Update your console's system software early so it isn't a separate wait on launch day
Make sure your PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass Core/Ultimate subscription is active if you plan to play online once that's available

Launch night

Charge your controllers, or keep a cable nearby
Mute keywords like "GTA 6 ending" and "GTA VI spoilers" on X, Reddit and TikTok for the first couple of weeks
Agree on a group chat or Discord channel so people can post finds as they go

First sessions

Note anything that surprises you, like hidden shops, good cars or quick money, and post it here while it's fresh
Take screenshots of map locations. They make guides much easier to follow
