GTA VI is set in the state of Leonida, Rockstar's take on Florida. Rockstar has named six regions so far. Here's what each one is, based on what Rockstar has shown.
Vice City
The state's big city and the center of the game, Rockstar's version of Miami: beaches, Art Deco streets, nightlife and a downtown full of money. Rockstar calls it "the darkest side of the sunniest place in America."
Leonida Keys
A chain of small islands to the south, connected by long bridges, modeled on the Florida Keys. Jason lives here at the start of the story, in a place owned by the smuggler Brian Heder.
Grassrivers
Leonida's wetlands, inspired by the Everglades: swamps, mangroves and slow, winding rivers.
Port Gellhorn
A run-down stretch of coast that used to draw tourists. Rockstar paints it as cheap motels, closed attractions and empty malls.
Ambrosia
Inland farm and factory country. Rockstar's description centers on the town's sugar refinery, which supplies the jobs, and a local biker gang.
Mount Kalaga National Park
The wild north of the state: forests, trails and backcountry, for hunting, fishing and off-roading.
Not confirmed yet
- Rockstar hasn't shown the full map or said how big it is. Maps you see online are fan reconstructions from trailers and screenshots.
- It hasn't been announced whether every region is open from the start.
