Everything GTA 6's Extended Look showed

Rockstar's first real gameplay presentation, Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2026, then went up on Rockstar's YouTube channel the same evening. Rockstar says it was captured from in-game footage on PlayStation 5. Here's what it showed, without spoiling more than the video itself does.

Playing as Jason and Lucia

• You can switch between Jason and Lucia, both during missions and in free time, similar to GTA V.
• The two can split up or work together.
• The presentation opens with a job tied to Boobie Ike that goes wrong. Raul Bautista and Cal Hampton also appear.

Combat and police

• Cover-based shootouts, with Jason and Lucia covering each other.
• Bystanders call the police if you pull a weapon in public.
• Older cars are easy to steal, but newer ones need a key cloner.
• Shooting out the tires of pursuing police cars was shown as a way to escape.

Living in Leonida

• A reputation system called the Criminal Profile, which coverage compared to Red Dead Redemption 2's honor system.
• Your character's body changes over time, including weight gain and loss and the effects of going days without sleep.
• Free-roam activities shown include skydiving, wrestling, basketball, working out and scuba diving.
• Car and dirt bike races.
• You can pet dogs, a first for the series.

What wasn't covered

The presentation didn't confirm frame rate modes, the full map, or details of the online mode.
